Characters have been made, and backstories are filling in. For the Prologue, the whole mob will be divided into individual groups, each with its starting point. During the telling of the Prologue, each group will find out how they got into this mess. Once all groups are together in the same spot, the Game Begins. This series in Role-Playing Games is Player Knowledge. Anything that happens to the Characters, anything the Characters would know is discussed here. There is also a GM section for those interested in the perspective of someone running the game, and notes on how the episode was intended to play out.

The whole mob of Players are then broken into specific groups. Each group has its reason to be together, and to be in the game. These are the main groups, and their Players:

Each group starts with its own missions and intentions, and are, in fact, much larger than just the Players themselves.
The Protectorate party is led by a Scructator, and the Players are only minor members. They are being sent to verify a supposed “prophecy” from an alleged “Harbinger.” The Dwarves trade with the Protectorate, especialy since the Protectorate tends to pay in diamonds. They are paid to escort a holy expedition into the North. The Players are minor members of the clan. They all head North along the border towards Ternon Crag.
A small village huddles a few miles outside of Hearthstone in Ord. Many of its people are from Khador. Recently, two new familes arrived. One family had a son who’s talent include their family trait of an unnatural gift with arcane mechaniks: he was able to unlock the key to clockwork capacitors on his own. In addition, he seemed to be able to Bond with devices. Their home guard heard rumors of developing hostilities between Khador and a neighbor, and was worried that the young man would be taken away by the military to be a front-line Warcaster. The artisan’s family, and that of the guard relocated to Ord, taking with them their skills and equipment. They try to settle down and lead quiet lives.
The Starlight Workshop had gotten its hands on a sketch of Nemo’s titled Universal Cortex. They tried to make it, and came up with something… odd. They hear a rumor of a brilliant Khadoran artisan in Ord, and will send a bright young Warcater with full escort to meet with this artisan and discuss their creation. A Mercanary Group is hired as escort, and a few Cygnaran troops as well.
And the Prologue will bring all these stories together, and introduce the Menace.
