Fallingblood is now desperate. The local Cephalyx are pissed at her, the party is right behind her, and Pyromalfic’s whispering is getting more intense. Time for desperate acts: she will bring down the main tunnel behind her. If she’s lucky, she may even catch the Players in the collapse!
The big encounter takes place in a major intersection of these tunnels. Fallingblood is using her last Thralls and ‘jacks to collapse the main tunnel, and the only side tunnel that might be abel to catch her. Unfortunately, that also tells the party which is the correct tunnel to take.
The local Cryx and Cephalyx are taking offense to collapsing their tunnels, and are out in force to stop her. There is a lot of Cryx-on-Cryx combat that is not necessary to play out, but just to use as background for the party. The actual party fight involves both Falingblood’s units trying to collapse the tunnel, and th local Cryxian units trying to stop them. The Party attacked Fallingblood’s troops with impunity, and only attacked the local Cryxians when they got too close to the ship. Killing Fallingblood’s Thralls slowed down the collapse, which allowed the ship to make it through.
The Satyxis doesn’t knwo about this, though. Fallingblood feels a little safer, and is still running off down the Dragon’s Throat. The side trip isn’t slowing the party down much, but she doesn’t know that. Also, with the tunnel collapsed, the current in the main river is dropping dramatically.
